Why is "Mechanical Interlocking" mandatory on crane switches? Isn't electrical interlock enough?
Electrical interlocks (configured via relays or PLCs) can fail if contacts weld together or software glitches occur. A mechanical interlock places physical barrier cams inside the switch housing. When "UP" is pressed, the "DOWN" button is physically blocked from moving. This dual-layer protection prevents catastrophic motor short circuits.
